MANATEE COUNTY, FL (August 1, 2014) – Manatee County Animal Services is having an Adopt-A-Thon on Saturday, August 9th from 10 am to 4 pm! All you need is love…. and a dog (or cat)! Special adoption fees will be announced throughout the event. Each adopted pet will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, including rabies, receive a health check and microchip. A license fee of $15 is required for Manatee County residents.
This event was organized by local volunteer Mary Pallante-Verville for the benefit of animals in search of their forever homes. Summer months are historically the busiest time of year from a shelter intake perspective, and unfortunately, the slowest time of year for adoptions. The “All you need is LOVE…AND a dog” event is focused on generating public interest in the needs of shelter animals and moving them out of the shelter environment, into a permanent home.
“The goal of this event is simply for these wonderful dogs and cats to find a loving home and family to call their own. Rescue pets are eternally grateful, and are a companion who will stick by your side for life,” said event organizer Mary Pallante-Verville.
In addition to adorable critters, the event will feature food, games, raffles, a bounce-house for children, and live music courtesy of Kim Betts and Gamble Creek Band. Additional support will be provided courtesy of Underground Auto Styling, The Manatee County Hit Crew, and a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who will be riding down from Tampa to join us for the day.
The adoption event will be at Manatee County Animal Services in Palmetto; 305 25th Street West from 10 am to 4 pm.
