SARASOTA, Fla. – After helping injured athletes return to the playing fields or courts of their respective sports for more than 20 years, Gary S. “It’s been an incredible honor to have injured athletes place their trust in me for their care,” Dr. Shapiro stated upon making the announcement. “Throughout my training and professional career, I have always strived to help athletes maintain optimum health and peak performance. I understand how it feels to love what you do and desire to deliver your best every day – whether on the playing field or in the OR.”

According to Sarasota High School Assistant Athletic Coach Mark Aschenbrenner, “His dedication has been absolutely selfless. Not only does he make sure our players are safe and ready to play for each game, but he has sacrificed many a Friday night standing on the sidelines of our home football games serving as our team doctor.”
