The GTE Foundation Scholarship Program awarded a total of $90,000 in scholarship funds to 36 local high school and undergraduate students at a recent awards luncheon hosted by GTE Financial.
“Through the generous support of participants in our Scholarship Scramble golf tournament, the GTE Foundation was able to present scholarships to 36 very deserving member-students this year, which is an increase from last year’s total of 24,” says Joe Brancucci, GTE Financial president and CEO. “Knowing that these are tomorrow’s leaders makes me believe we’ll be in very good hands. This was truly an extraordinary group of students.”
Recipients of the $2,500 scholarships and their families, as well as GTE Financial’s executive management team, members of GTE Financial’s board of directors and the Scholarship Judging Committee attended the event. GTE received 605 completed applications for the scholarships this year and the judges focused on students’ community engagement, volunteerism and academic achievements.
The GTE Foundation Scholarship program accepts applications from graduating high school seniors and undergraduate college students who are GTE Financial members, and awards are made annually.
