TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 1, 2014 – – The highly anticipated public opening of Ulele will be on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at 5 p.m.
Initially, the restaurant will be open only for dinner. Hours are Sunday-Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5-11 p.m. Lunch and brunch hours will be added in the fall.
Ulele is next to the Hillsborough River in Tampa Heights at 1810 N. Highland Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602. Complimentary valet parking is available.
The restaurant is the latest concept from Richard Gonzmart of the Columbia Restaurant Group.
“This has been a labor of love,” Gonzmart said. “I can’t wait to open our doors and show what we’ve been working on. This project has been in my mind for the last 10 years. I really hope this will be my legacy, and that my children and my grandchildren will remember and thank me for the vision.”
Located in the lovingly re-imagined 1903 Tampa Water Works building, Ulele will serve unique foods and spirits by fusing elements from a rich variety of Native American and multicultural influences, including those of European explorers. The menu will feature items indigenous to this area’s waters and farms.
The on-site Ulele Spring Brewery will produce a variety of craft beers exclusively for Ulele patrons.
Ulele anchors the north end of the Tampa Riverwalk, 400 yards from the David. A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, and sits next to the city’s new Water Works Park. The park will have its official ribbon-cutting on Aug. 12.
