Tampa, F.L. – July 21, 2014 – Jersey College, a private post-secondary institution with Florida campuses located in Tampa, Jacksonville, and Ft. Lauderdale, held its grand opening ceremony for its new 40,000 square foot facility on Queen Palm Drive in Tampa, FL on July 16, 2014. Guests of the ceremony enjoyed a formal ribbon cutting, facility tours, and a dedication of the College’s new simulation center. Students, faculty and staff invited members of the community to commemorate this special occasion.
The Simulation Center at Jersey College has been dedicated in memory of Ms. Cheryl Goforth, RN – former Chief Nursing Officer at Brandon Regional Hospital and Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg. Ms. Goforth was passionate about nursing and expanding nursing education in the Tampa area. She had a grand plan to have a student nurse at each patient’s bedside. Jersey College has been privileged to assist in Ms. Goforth’s vision and educate nurses that are able to join the health team and contribute to meeting the total needs of the patient. Student nurses will continue to be educated in her memory through the Goforth Learning Center at Jersey College.
Joining in the dedication were members of Brandon Regional Hospital, Largo Medical Center and the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. Brandon Regional Hospital leaders Bonnie Guagliardo, Toni Peterson, Lori Russello and Brenda Hill spoke in memory of Ms. Goforth. Additionally, Bland Eng, CEO of Brandon Regional Hospital, Mark Miller, COO of Largo Medical Center and Billie Smith of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce came to support the event. Ms. Goforth’s son, Richard, participated in the ceremonies – remembering his mother in ways that could only be seen through the eyes of her child.
Jersey College was established in 2003 with the goal of offering nursing education for the adult professional.
