Over 8 million square feet of warehouse/light industrial approved for development
Winter Haven, FL – July 21, 2014 – CBRE has been selected to market the 930-acre Central Florida Intermodal Logistics Center (Central Florida ILC) in Winter Haven, Florida, a large-scale industrial park anchored by the new CSX-operated intermodal terminal, which opened in April 2014. The park is approved for development of approximately 8 million square feet of warehouse distribution centers, light industrial and office facilities, and is capable of handling build-to-suit requirements of virtually any size with immediate access to the intermodal. The first building, a state-of-the-art 407,400-square-foot cross-dock facility, is set to break ground in October of 2014. CBRE’s David Murphy, Kevin Hoover and Monica Wonus are marketing the property on behalf of the developer, Winter Haven Industrial Developers, LLC.
“In today’s economy, where speed counts, the company with the best supply chain wins,” said CBRE’s David Murphy. “We recognize the tremendous opportunity this new state-of-the-art facility terminal has to attract large distribution users who understand how to leverage the cost savings of rail.”
The 318-acre intermodal terminal in Winter Haven is operated by Jacksonville-based CSX Intermodal Terminals, which runs more than 40 terminals across the eastern United States. The state-of-the-art facility features three electric wide-span cranes, five 3,000-foot processing tracks and two 10,000-foot arrival and departure tracks. It is strategically located to provide distributors access a population of nearly 18 million within 200 miles, including major population centers such as Orlando, Tampa and Miami. The terminal has the current capacity to process up to 300,000 containers a year and provides the opportunity for scalable expansion.
Mike Mullen of Winter Haven Industrial Investors, LLC, the company developing the Central Florida ILC, is widely recognized as the nation’s preeminent intermodal developer. The former CenterPoint Properties CEO was responsible for developing the Joliet and Elwood intermodal facilities outside of Chicago, part of the largest and most comprehensive intermodal operation in the country.
