July 11, 2014 / Sarasota, Fla. — Cheryl Brodbeck, parish registrar for the Church of the Redeemer, was recently invited to join the Customer Advisory Team of ACS Technologies, a national church software company with more than 50,000 clients. The company reached out to Cheryl because of her 15-plus years of experience with ACS and her proficiency with the company’s software.
Cheryl accepted the position on ACS’ Customer Advisory Team last month. Her main tasks involve responding to surveys, participating in usability tests and giving input on new projects. ACS also plans to pay a visit to Redeemer to observe the church’s daily work environment.
Cheryl has been using ACS for almost all of our parish’s record-keeping for nearly her entire tenure with our parish (she joined on a part-time basis in 1996, and became full-time in 1998). She tracks membership data such as addresses, phone numbers and email addresses, and also uses ACS to record baptisms, confirmations, membership transfers, Sunday school participation and more.
While ACS provides a high-tech solution to the church’s needs, Cheryl also continues to record all of the church’s information in the Parish Registrar books. “I have always thought it was neat that I use the latest technology and some of the oldest, a fountain pen, in my job,” she says.
ACS was founded in 1978 and employs more than 300; its headquarters is located in Florence, South Carolina. The company’s software has been the best-selling product in its field for more than 30 years, and helps tens of thousands of churches track information about their members and set and monitor ministry goals. It also offers accounting services and communication tools.
The Church of the Redeemer is located at 222 S. Palm Ave., in the heart of downtown Sarasota. For more information, visit redeemersarasota.org or call 941-955-4263.
