Three New Exhibitions open July 12th
96th Annual Members Show & Sale
Continuing in tradition, the Morean awards a solo show to each Best of Show winner to coincide with the following year’s Member’s showcase. Acclaimed local artist Rose Marie Prins was the 2013 Best of Show award winner and opens her site-specific installation Saturday night as well.
Rose Marie Prins: Homeland, Lost and Found was inspired by Salah Al-Hamadi’s poem, Baghdad My Beloved, in which he mourns the loss of the homeland he fled during the war that started with the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. Prins will give a FREE gallery at 5:00pm.
96th Annual Members Show and Rose Marie Prins: Homeland, Lost and Found runs through August 17th.
At the Morean Center for Clay in the Warehouse Arts District, Red, Yellow, Blue includes new work by St. Pete Clay resident artist Lydia Johnson. Through the use of color and form, Lydia’s body of work invites the user to share in her visual translation of our rich, beautiful and varied world. Opening reception is FREE and open to the public. 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Lydia’s work is available for purchase and will be on view through July 28th.
