Begins Wednesday, July 23 at Michael’s Wine Cellar
Michael’s Wine Cellar welcomes guests to a new educational wine tasting series on Wednesday evenings, July 23 – Aug. 6, to explore the history of wine, what gives wine its unique properties and a tour of the major wine regions of the world. An ideal opportunity to for those new to wine or a simple way to reacquaint with the basics, this three-part seminar will appeal to any consumer interested in learning more about wine.
“We’ve had many requests from clients looking for a more educational experience with wines. In response to demand, we are creating new ways to engage and fulfill this need,” explains Michael’s Wine Cellar Store Manager, Gary O’Brien. “This is just the beginning, as we look forward to offering new wine events all summer.” The three-part series will be presented together with wine consultant Michael Green.
The first evening (July 23) will provide a solid understanding of the history of wines—from ancient times through current production—as well as information about the process of making wines, grape varietals (and their various clones or counterparts used in other parts of the world) and information about the different terriors of the world along with their importance.
The second evening (July 30) will describe the major countries that produce “Old World” wine, as guests taste wines from France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
The three-part series will conclude (Aug. 6) by focusing on wines from the United States, South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, highlighting wines considered “New World.”
Each session will feature tastes of up to six select wines representing the overall theme of that evening. Light hors d’oeuvres will be offered at each event.
