Group advises the university’s communication faculty and mentors outstanding students
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (July 2, 2014) – Kyle Parks, a principal at B2 Communications, has been named to Virginia Tech’s Communication Advisory Board, a group
of distinguished alumni that provides guidance to the university’s Department of Communication.
The board gathers twice a year to offer advice on strategies for the department, while also mentoring top communication students to help prepare them for careers in the field. Board members are communications professionals who have had experience with a wide range of leading companies and organizations from around the country, such as E*Trade Financial Corp., Microsoft Corp., Exelon Corp., the Virginia Lottery, and the Martin Agency.
“We are extremely fortunate to have alumni who are eager to volunteer their time to us,” said Robert Denton, head of the Department of Communication at Virginia Tech. “Kyle is a wonderful addition to our advisory board. He’s had a diverse, highly successful communications career, and will provide valuable insights to our faculty and students.”
This fall, the board will participate in a speed mentoring session with high-performing communication students. Board members will meet individually with students for 10 minutes each to review resumes, give advice and discuss careers. Also, as part of the fall meeting, the board will meet with faculty members to discuss their research initiatives.
