Hilton Hotel Ocala, FL – On Thursday, June 26th, radio station WSKY hosted the 1st annual “Valor” event honoring first responders from law enforcement, fire departments and emergency services throughout Alachua, Marion, Levy, Lake and Gilchrist counties. Honorees were selected by their supervisors for overall outstanding job performances and specific acts of heroism. A total of 20 first responders were honored with one recognized each weekday in June on the WSKY 97.3 FM morning show hosted by Bob Rose and Jay Anderson.
Rose and Anderson hosted the “Valor” event, and they called each honoree to the stage to receive their recognition with an award trophy for their accomplishment. Many honorees brought their families and friends to help celebrate their recognition. “First responders have such a critical role in our communities and face extremely difficult and dangerous challenges every day,” said Dick O’Neil, vice president and general manager of WSKY. “Their contributions deserve this kind of recognition and much more. We are proud to honor these local heroes who protect and serve us in so many ways.” Specific honorees can be found at www.valor.thesky973.com.
