BRADENTON, FL, June 23, 2014 – HOPE Family Services is pleased to announce the unanimous appointment of Twila Averill as President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Averill is the Vice-President/Branch Manager of First Bank, located at 415 53rd Ave West for 10 years. HOPE Family Services and domestic violence services are extremely important to her because of past personal experiences. “Being a military wife for twenty-six years, I saw a lot of different types of domestic violence. I understand the value of an organization like HOPE, an agency that not only addresses emergency needs but also offers a prevention program to students in an effort to stem the tide of new victims of domestic violence.”
Other Executive Committee members unanimously elected include: Dr. Judy Smith (Director of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, Florida Blood Services) as Vice-President, Tom Salisbury, (Comptroller, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office) reelected as Treasurer, Carol Laudicina ( Human Resources, Manatee County Sheriff’s Department) as Secretary and Len Tabicman, who remains on the Executive Committee as the Immediate Past President.
In addition to the Executive Committee, the Board elected one new member; Deborah Pickhardt (Senior Technical Analyst, Marriot Vacation Club). Seven prominent community members also serve on the Board of Directors; Dr. Lyn Boyer, Rosemarie Fisher, Daniel J. Friedrich, Mindy Hill, Robert P. Hillstrom, MD., Dr. Sarah Mackie, and Jeffrey Woodin. The Board provides governance, guidance and support to HOPE Family Services, Manatee County’s only domestic violence service provider.
