Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation hosted the eighth annual Catch and Release Fishing Tournament presented by Skanska USA Building and Borrell Electric Company on May 9 at Catches Waterfront Grille in Port Richey. Twenty chartered boats carried Foundation supporters who enjoyed a full day of fishing while raising funds for the PHSC Foundation. The biggest prize winners of the day were PHSC students, faculty and staff who will benefit from the $34,000 raised at the event.
Trophies were awarded for first and second place Grand Slam, first place for the
largest in length in three species categories, and the Master Angler award for largest Cobia.
Winners in the combined total inches category included Shane Rushlo, Cox Fire Protection Inc., who was awarded first place with 74.25 total inches, and Bret Bestpitch, JR Long, earning second place with a total of 67.25 inches.
Other top anglers included: Scott Cox, Cox Fire Protection Inc., with a 23-inch Trout; Roger Stephan, Skanska USA Building, for his 29.5-inch Redfish; Doug Robinson, ConEdison Solutions, for a 42.5-inch Snook; and Bill Brochenbrough, ConEdison Solutions, received the Master Angler award with a 32.5-inch Cobia.
The PHSC Foundation was established in 1975 to support student programs, instructional resources, staff development and facilities for the College.
