Venice, Florida – June 18, 2014 – Gulfshore Media LLC, publisher of award-winning Sarasota Magazine and other titles, has acquired five-year-old Venice Magazine and venicemagazineonline.com from Venetian Media Group, LLC for an undisclosed sum. It will operate the website and re-launch the magazine on a semi-annual basis starting in November 2014.
The new Venice Magazine will offer expanded print and digital distribution to a widened audience of affluent readers in and around the greater Venice area, including Osprey, Laurel, Nokomis, Manasota Key, Casey Key, Placida, Englewood and North Port. The publication will be redesigned and will feature expanded editorial under the direction of Gulfshore Media’s seasoned creative team.
“We’ve admired Venice Magazine since its inception and are thrilled to enter the South Sarasota County marketplace with such a top quality publication,” said Dan Denton, president/CEO of Gulfshore Media. “While it will have our own creative stamp, we also intend to carry on what publisher Tracy Knight and her team established, which is a beautiful publication that represents the people and lifestyles of Venice and surrounding communities.”
Venice Magazine was acquired by a group of local investors, including Knight Marketing, a national marketing firm, in 2009. Stated Tracy Knight, “We are gratified that our magazine will continue to be published by a respected company with a long and successful track record. The readers and advertisers can continue to take pride in the magazine that is for and about them.”
The magazine’s November issue will include a comprehensive preview of arts, entertainment and special events for 2014-2015, and the February 2015 issue will offer a peak-season guide to dining, shopping, new homes and more. The magazine’s popular website and Facebook page are currently live and will continue under the new ownership.
