According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, just last month over 19% of the Under-20 workforce in America is currently unemployed compared to the national average of about 6%. Additionally, the Freelancer’s Union recently estimated the number of American independent workers to be 42 million, up from just 10.3 million in 2005. Young Americans are aging into an economy where there are less opportunities and are forced to create their own through entrepreneurship as a result.
Tori Molnar was just 13 when she started Utoria, a direct selling company for young women to make money selling products while they learned valuable entrepreneurial skills. Today, Tori is 17 and Utoria is an entire community for young women where they can access all of the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to be successful. After two years of rebuilding the company, Tori is re-launching with a series of BYOB (Become Your Own Boss) events. Read on to find out about BYOB:
BYOB is a workshop that helps young women turn their BIG ideas into a profit-ready business in just ONE DAY! The nature of the event is very intimate so young entrepreneur and CEO Tori Molnar can work one-on-one with each girl throughout the day. There will be pre-work before the event to help each girl clarify her idea and vision. Then when event day rolls around Tori will help each girl create a comprehensive business plan so she knows exactly what she needs to do tomorrow, in a week, and in a month. Tori will also be each girl’s personal BBF (Business Best Friend) for 4 weeks after the event helping them get through everything, because she’s been through it herself.
The event has gained attention and endorsements from influential entrepreneurs like Amanda Steinberg, Peter Shankman, Tory Johnson, and more, and businesses such as Shopify, Fiverr, and even The Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, among others. Quite the accomplishment for a 17 year old.
Thanks to Scholarship Sponsors, generous entrepreneurs in the area, we’ve been able to eliminate the cost for 75% of the girls attending, breaking barriers and easing the financial burden for local young women to attend and start a business.
The goal of BYOB is for every girl to leave the event motivated with the confidence, clarity, and inspiration she needs to become a successful young entrepreneur. They will have the resources they need to thrive and change their lives through entrepreneurship.
