(St. Petersburg, FL June 11, 2014) One in three of us will need a blood transfusion at some time. Overall, 39% of people are eligible to donate blood, but only 5% of us do. These shocking facts emphasize why blood donations are crucial at all times. The need for blood donations never stops. Blood transfusions are crucial to the health and well-being of our community and that’s why OneBlood, the local blood center, is observing World Blood Donor Day by reminding everyone that we can share our power to save lives by giving blood.
World Blood Donor Day is Saturday, June 14, a time to honor blood donors and to say thank you to the loyal donors who save lives every single day. Donating blood is one of the most powerful actions any human can take. Blood donations literally save lives. It’s that profound. See our story dedicated to World Blood Donor Day and about the people who save lives by donating blood by clicking HERE.(Media outlets are welcome to link to this story on their websites).
OneBlood will be celebrating World Blood Donor Day during the entire weekend to say “hats off” to our loyal blood donors. We will be celebrating and thanking them by offering a free limited edition OneBlood baseball hat, along with a $10 eGift card, to those who donate Friday, June 13 through Monday, June 16 at our Donor Center locations only.
