Sun City Center, Florida –(June 3, 2014)—South Bay Hospital recently honored several employees at their annual service awards banquet. Some of the night’s top honors went to Sonji West, who was named Employee Frist Humanitarian of the Year, Nancy Lang, Volunteer Frist Humanitarian of the Year, Natalia Diaz, Director of the Year, and Jonie Stoner, Employee of the Year.
Sonji West, Unit Secretary at South Bay Hospital, was awarded the Frist Humanitarian Award for her selfless work to improve the lives of homeless residents in the area. This award is given annually in recognition of the humanitarian spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA. Among her humanitarian efforts, Sonji has a small homeless shelter on her family farm and provides residents with daily meals, transportation to medical appointments and employment assistance.
Nancy Lang received the Volunteer Frist Humanitarian Award for her dedicated service as a volunteer at South Bay Hospital and for her contributions to other local charity groups. In addition to her 15 years of volunteer work at South Bay Hospital, Nancy is a 10 year member of the Sun City Center volunteer security patrol, Chairman of the local Salvation Army Christmas Stocking Project and is a member of the Sun City Center United Methodist Congregational Care Ministry, offering holy communion to residents of assisted living facilities who are not able to attend church service.
Natalia Diaz, Marketing Director, was named Director of the Year. Natalia has been a member of the South Bay Hospital’s team for the past 3 years. She fosters an environment of teamwork, encourages creativity and leads the hospital’s marketing and growth initiatives.
Jonie Stoner, Housekeeper, was chosen as Employee of the Year. In her role, Jonie continually goes above and beyond her duties to assist families in need of comfort and support during their hospital stay. She is well known for her work ethic, her professional demeanor and her desire to exceed expectations.
