[Sarasota] — This June (LGBT Pride Month) marks 45 years since the 1969 Stonewall Riots — the event that sparked the modern LGBTQ rights movement — and Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida is proud to reaffirm its commitment to the rights and health of LGBTQ people.
“Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida believes that reproductive rights are deeply connected to civil rights for all Americans,” said spokesperson Kellie Dupree. “We have long stood with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the struggle for full equality — many of whom turn to Planned Parenthood for health care, information and education in southwest and central Florida.”
Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida will also mark the month by participating in St. Pete Pride weekend – both marching in the parade and participating in the street festival. Stop by our table to learn about the many ways Planned Parenthood supports the LGBTQ community.
“At Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida, we understand that LGBTQ people have unique health care needs,” said Dupree. “Our doors are open to everyone. We believe that everyone deserves high-quality, affordable health care and accurate sexual health information, no matter who they are or where they live.”
