Action begins at Pier 60 Thursday, Continues on St. Pete Waterfront Through Sunday
St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (May 28, 2014) – From Clearwater Beach’s world-famous Pier 60 to downtown St. Pete’s waterfront, AVP’s Pro Beach Volleyball Tour is taking over this weekend.
The stage for the world’s best volleyball players will be set Thursday with a free open qualifying tournament at Pier 60 where the top four male and female teams earn entry into AVP’s season opening tourney.
Action continues along downtown St. Pete’s waterfront Friday-Sunday as Olympic stars and local standouts descend on Spa Beach Park. Sunday’s finals are being televised live on CBS Sports Network.
A beach party atmosphere filled with live music, food and interactive activities surrounds the action on stadium court.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings and partner April Ross, a 2012 Olympic Silver medalist, headline the women’s field.
The men’s side is highlighted by a handful of Olympians, including gold-medalists Phil Dalhausser, Todd Rogers and two-time Olympian Sean Rosenthal.
