The Schimberg Group Inc. has completed renovations of the Chiles Restaurant Group’s BeachHouse in Bradenton Beach on Florida’s popular Anna Maria Island. Barron Schimberg, a principal architect of The Schimberg Group, led renovations which have resulted in record-breaking sales.
SARASOTA, FL (May 28, 2014) − The Schimberg Group Inc. is proud to announce that renovations to the BeachHouse Restaurant have been completed, and the brand new dining room, bar and retail store opened to guests during the peak of tourist season to record-breaking sales. “The BeachHouse Restaurant is beloved by locals and tourists. Our goal with this project was to modernize and update the restaurant, while still maintaining its classic, rustic elegance,” stated Barron Schimberg, a principal of The Schimberg Group.
The BeachHouse Restaurant is owned by The Chiles Restaurant Group and is located on the Gulf of Mexico on the south end of Florida’s Anna Maria Island, just west of the Cortez fishing village in Bradenton Beach. The restaurant is known for a family-friendly environment, with ample room for children to play on the beach while parents enjoy the sunset and a refreshing, tropical drink. It is also an award-winning location for beach weddings, receptions and special events so it was important to stay open throughout the project.
Ed Chiles, owner of The BeachHouse, selected The Schimberg Group to re-imagine the restaurant following their successful renovation of The Sandbar on Anna Maria Island, another Chiles Restaurant Group property. Chiles said, “We trusted TSG to make bold changes but we also continued to operate the restaurant using the deck and a temporary outdoor kitchen which made it challenging − yet they completed everything on time and our sales are showing that guests love the new design.”
For generations, the focus of activity was on the back beach deck while the interior had been ignored. The bar was tucked in a corner and the restaurant had low dark ceilings and outdated interior finishes. Barron Schimberg described the project as “Opening up the space, creating a colorful energetic retail area, bringing spectacular waterfront views to every seat and giving the dining area a more sophisticated feel – all while remaining true to the spirit of this iconic beach hangout.”
Barron worked alongside his wife, Patty Schimberg, who led the restaurant interior design. The new bar design mimics the outline of the BeachHouse logo and has been reoriented and expanded to maximize views of the Gulf of Mexico. “We modernized the restaurant’s ‘beachy’ décor,” Patty explained, “while maintaining the spirit of an endless vacation and quintessential Florida chic style.” The Schimberg Group also gave the restaurant a true lounge area with a retro banquette and wall of wine which is distinct from a new more spacious dining room. Now a vibrant retail area welcomes patrons into the restaurant where they are greeted by a wonderful play of colors, fabric patterns and beach-chic light fixtures that pull the sand and water into the space – creating for the owner and guests an exciting island retail and dining experience.
