dedicated to supporting the technology needs of small- to medium-sized
businesses (SMBs), hosted its spring TechSelect Partner Conference on
May 14-17, 2014 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate in Orlando,
Florida. Approximately 400 channel partners were in attendance to share
growth strategies and discuss the latest technologies and opportunities
in the IT channel.
“Tech Data was proud to mark an important milestone for our TechSelect
partner community–celebrating its 15th anniversary at the spring
conference in Orlando,” said Pete Peterson, senior vice president, U.S.
Sales at Tech Data. “Since TechSelect’s founding in 1999, TechSelect
has grown into the IT channel’s premier partner community, helping its
members grow their businesses and maximize channel opportunities. The

The collaborative event included breakout sessions, peer-to-peer
networking and business-building opportunities focused on four of
TechSelect’s pillars: Marketing, Services, Culture and Leadership.
Identified by the TechSelect Advisory Council, the pillars are focused
around enabling business growth in the key areas.
The event featured Mark Scharenbroich, award-winning educational
speaker, author and founder of the “Nice Bike” principle, who spoke
about the importance of making meaningful connections in life and in
business. The event also featured Debbie Maier, founder of The End
Result, who conducted a training workshop focused on sales, leadership
skill development and customer service excellence.
The audience also heard from leading vendor partners including
representatives from Cisco, VMware and Microsoft, discussing the latest
technologies and business opportunities in the IT channel. Featured
speakers included Michael Perez, manager, Partner Operations at Cisco;
Peter McKay, vice president of Sales EUC Americas and general manager
DaaS at VMware; and Long Tran, director of Technology & Evangelism
SMB&D at Microsoft Corporation.
Through TechSelect’s Partner Conference charity fundraiser, the
TechSelect community has historically partnered with charitable
organizations in the host cities of its events to give back to the
local communities. For its spring partner conference, TechSelect raised
over $33,000 for Edgewood Children’s Ranch–a place where boys and
girls of Central Florida are given a chance to live and attend school
in a safe and loving environment. Since 2008, the TechSelect community
has raised over $180,000 in monetary and product donations to help
various charities that benefit special needs children, abuse survivors,
children’s education and advancement, humanitarian causes and more.
“The workshops around the business pillars were full of great ideas
that I could easily share with my team and begin implementing,” said
Audrey Levi, managing partner at ITPointe. “The keynote speaker, Mark
Scharenbroich, was indeed one of the best motivational speakers I have
had the pleasure of listening to, and it was the perfect kickoff to
TechSelect’s 15th anniversary. TechSelect’s greatest value to me has
always been the meaningful connections that I have made over the years
with my peers, the Tech Data team, and the industry’s best vendors.”
The fall TechSelect Partner Conference will be held October 23-25, 2014
at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson, Nevada, focusing on the
following four TechSelect pillars: Sales, Finance, People and Wealth.
