Dade City, Florida — Susan Scherer, nurse, entrepreneur and founder of the medical consulting startup, RN Cancer Guides, is the newest associate member of the SMARTstart Dade City Incubator and microloan recipient from the Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc.
Scherer’s medical career spans over 24 years working in everything from trauma, diagnostic coding, neurological, and surgical intensive care units to specialized fields like neurological-oncology and endocrine cancer. Her passion to help cancer patients struggling to navigate through the treatment process led Scherer to launch RN Cancer Guides in July 2013.
RN Cancer Guides (RNCG) provides oncology nursing services to patients and corporations (employee cancer assistance program- ECAP). The certified oncology nurses of RNCG assist patients with everything from seeking a second opinion to understanding their diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and more. Being based in Florida also allows the nurses to coordinate cancer care for patients who are seasonal residents and need assistance in continuing their out-of-state cancer treatments.
Recently, Scherer relocated the company to an office in Wesley Chapel and joined the SMARTstart Incubator program. Soon after joining, she became aware of the microloan program through Pasco EDC, and applied for a loan to help expand her business.
“We love our new location in Wesley Chapel and are looking forward to growing our business with help from the resources available through the SMARTstart business incubator,” said Susan Scherer, CEO and founder of RN Cancer Guides. “Just as we help people navigate through their journey with cancer, the microloan and technical assistance from Pasco EDC will help RN Cancer Guides navigate through this startup phase.”
