LARGO — Laurie Bunce of Centratel Business Telephones, Chairman of the Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Task Force, has announced its 2013/2014 Largo High School scholarship recipients who will each receive $1,000.00. The award winners were selected from Largo High School Students of the Month recognized throughout the year as part of the Chamber’s Education Foundation and its Scholarship Task Force.
The first recipient, Maggie Kivett, is the daughter of Tara Kivett. Maggie will attend the University of Florida beginning this summer to study pharmacy on the pre-med track. Maggie participated in numerous extra-curricular activities including serving as student government president and captain of the swim team. She was a part of the ExCel Board of Student Advisors, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, FCA, Senior Council and Key Club. Maggie was recognized by the Chamber as Student of the Month in May, 2014.
The second recipient, Darbie Napieralski, is the daughter of Kimberly Napieralski. Darbie has been accepted by the University of South Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University and is interested in athletic training, occupational therapy and physical therapy programs. Darbie played varsity basketball and softball all of the four years of her career at Largo High School. She also played two years of varsity volleyball. She was on the ExCEL Board of Student Advisors and participated in the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Darbie was recognized by the Chamber as Student of the Month in November, 2013.
“We had an impressive group of applicants for these two scholarships,” adds Laurie Bunce. “It was very difficult to narrow our choices to two. We believe that Maggie and Darbie exemplify the spirit and commitment required to succeed. We look forward to following their progress and sharing in their success.”
