Tampa, Fla. – May 9, 2014 – On Thursday May 15th, Ria Persad Carlo joins 80,000 entrepreneurs across 95 cities and 35 countries in a global movement when she speaks at Startup Grind, in Tampa. Powered by Google for Entrepreneurs the event is designed to give established business owners a platform to impart their lessons learned and keys to success to the next generation of startups and entrepreneurs.
Ria’s amazing background from humble beginnings as an immigrant to he undeniable success as one of the top women in STEM worldwide is a part of Google’s #40forward program focused on challenging organizations to increase the representation of women in tech communities.
Women-led tech companies achieve 35% higher return on investment, and, when venture-backed, bring in 12% more revenue than male-owned tech companies. Yet women are still underrepresented in startup communities and Google believes there are substantive ways to be more inclusive.
