The firm is pleased to announce that on April 25, 2014, our founding partner, Paul Butler was honored by the Property Insurance Law Committee (PILC) of the American Bar Association, with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Paul received the award at the PILC’s annual meeting in Carlsbad, California. At the recent meeting, Paul was presented with a notebook containing letters from colleagues across the country expressing thanks, congratulatory comments, and remembrances of past events. Paul also gave an acceptance speech.
Paul’s work with the Committee began in 1980 as an editor of the first Annotated Homeowner’s Policy. He was Chair of the Committee in 1985-86. He also served on the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Council (a section of 32,000 attorneys) and in the ABA House of Delegates.
Paul is now among five other distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award recipients including, Marvin Karp, Cleveland; Doug Houser, Portland; Clayton Farnham, Atlanta; and Alan Miller, Boston. Since Paul’s involvement with the Committee, there have been seven additional Committee Chairs with ties to Butler Pappas, including partners Doug Berry, Bill Lewis, Tom Brown, Rich Gable and Clark Schirle.
