May 5, 2014 — CoreNet Global – the world’s leading association of corporate real estate (CRE) executives and workplace professionals, service providers and economic developers with over 8,000 members that include 70% of the Fortune 100 and Forbes Global 2000 – has selected the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance’s “CEO Council Successful HQ Marketing Plan” as a finalist for the H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award. The award is the organization’s ultimate and most prestigious recognition for innovation at the highest level. Finalists will present to a panel of distinguished judges at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in July, with an announcement of the overall winner at the CoreNet Global North American Summit in Washington, DC in October.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance is the official public/private partnership for economic development for Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County. In 2008, the CEO Council was formed as a totally private sector funded association of chief executive officers and senior business leaders to market and promote Greater Fort Lauderdale as a premier location for corporate and international regional headquarters, and to monitor the area’s external rankings and perceptions compared to its primary competitors to ensure continued favorability as a business location. The CEO Council has coordinated such corporate headquarter relocations and expansions as Altadis USA, Anthem Education, Camposol USA, Emerson Latin America, Nyrstar (with a CEO Council record per job average wage of $143,000), Parallon, Private Jet Charter, Prolexic Technologies, SmartWater CSI, Stemtech International and Wendy’s Latin America/Caribbean. It has been responsible for raising the external Very Positive/Positive perception ratings of Greater Fort Lauderdale by national/ international site selection consultants from 48% to 84%, increasing those who would recommend Greater Fort Lauderdale for a corporate headquarters relocation project from 30% to 51% while also lowering those with negative perceptions from 17% to 3%.
According to CEO Council founding and current Chairman Ray Ferrero, Jr., “This recognition by such an esteemed international organization as CoreNet Global once again ratifies the CEO Council’s foundational studies including the initial assessment conducted by Jim McGraw of KMK Consulting, the National Competitive Ranking Assessment by John Rhodes of MS&B and the three-year Strategic Blueprint & Implementation Plan by Del Boyette and his team at Boyette Strategic Advisors, along with the “Life. Less taxing.” national marketing and branding initiative developed by CEO Council member Jordan Zimmerman and his team at Zimmerman Advertising. These foundational studies, along with the National Competitive Incentives Analysis by Jay Biggins of Biggins Lacy & Shapiro – all underwritten privately by the CEO Council – brought the collective wisdom of the nation’s top economic development consultants to bear on Greater Fort Lauderdale, and the results of executing their recommendations under the direction of CEO Council Managing Director Robin Ronne have proven we continue to be on the right path to success.”
Del Boyette, President & CEO of Boyette Strategic Advisors, said “The CEO Council has moved the needle significantly for Greater Fort Lauderdale as a headquarters location, and the headquarter expansion and relocation announcements substantiate that fact. But most importantly, the CEO Council initiative has provided the foundation to re-establish Greater Fort Lauderdale’s reputation and image on a national and international basis with key decision makers, including corporate end-users, corporate real estate service providers and site selection consultants and advisors. The selection of the CEO Council’s headquarter marketing and recruitment initiative as a finalist for this year’s CoreNet Global H. Bruce Russell Global Innovators Award is one of the highest possible honors for economic development organizations, and speaks volumes to the effectiveness of the CEO Council that has made such a positive difference in elevating Greater Fort Lauderdale business brand.”
