WHY: Studies have shown the greatest factor that influences student success is not academic knowledge, but rather the student’s academic discipline. In order to perform well in school, students must display good use of skills such as planning, organization, follow through and sustained effort. Tutor Doctor designed an academic gameplan program called “X-skills” to help families and students implement these skills into their daily rountine. This workship seeks to educate parents on the new program available to their children, while also providing an overview of the skills students need for success.
All of the skills included in Tutor Doctor’s “X-Skills” gameplan are part of a category known as Executive Functions and are determined to be the characteristics humans develop to execute tasks independently. Parents are encouraged to attend this workshop if their student is already receiving in-home tutoring or if they want to help their child advance academically in the classroom.
