SARASOTA, FLORIDA – An event to raise money for cancer survivor Ann Elizabeth Lentz (known as AnnE) will be held on Sunday, May 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Gator Club, 1490 Main Street, Sarasota, Florida.
Recently, at 58 years old, AnnE was diagnosed with throat cancer and within a few days, had her larynx removed. After her surgery, she discovered her insurance company had dropped her and was not going to pay for the medical expenses.
A 31-year Sarasota resident, AnnE has been a beloved fixture of Sarasota’s restaurant and hospitality industry for many years, working with such fine restaurants as Mustard’s Last Stand, Ophelia’s, Zoria’s, Clayton’s, and most recently Michael’s on East. Suddenly unable to speak, AnnE had to leave the only career she had ever known, further exacerbating her financial situation.
An avid friend and supporter of Mote Marine Laboratories, AnnE hopes to continue her education and secure a job within the marine life industry, ideally working to rehabilitate sea life. The ocean and its creatures are her passion.
Tickets to the fundraiser are $20 and include two drink tickets for beer or wine. Food and entertainment will be provided, and door prizes will be given away.
