Tampa, FL – High Risk Hope (HRH), in collaboration with Random Acts of Flowers Pinellas (RAF), will be celebrating Mothers Day with high risk obstetrics patients on long term hospital bed rest on May 10, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. at St Joseph’s Women’s Hospital located at 3030 W Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Tampa, Florida. RAF and HRH volunteers will lift the sprits of these moms-to-be by delivering RAF floral arrangements and HRH keepsake pregnancy calendars. RAF does not serve the Tampa area but is collaborating with HRH on Mother’s Day in an effort to help prolong the pregnancies of these patients and improve the outcomes of their unborn babies.
Nearly 500,000 babies are born prematurely in the United States each year and 9,000 babies die as a result of their premature birth. With a 2012 premature birth rate of 13.7%, Florida is one of the worst states in the nation in terms of premature birth prevention. Each day a woman on hospital bed rest is able to remain pregnant is a miracle and decreases her baby’s NICU stay by an estimated three days. Lengthening pregnancies at risk for pre-term delivery results in healthier babies.
