CLEARWATER (April 29, 2014) – Looking for part-time, full-time, or seasonal workers for your business? Employers now have the opportunity to tap into Tampa Bay’s talent pool of young adult workers, ages 14 – 24, through a Virtual Job Fair running from May 11, 2014 to May 17, 2014.
“The Virtual Job Fair assists employers with the flexibility of reviewing resumes online at their convenience without the additional staffing that a physical job fair requires,” stated Edward Peachey, president and CEO of the CareerSource Tampa Bay and CareerSource Pinellas. “It’s a win-win because in turn it allows job seekers the opportunity to seek employment from their home computer.”
With listings ranging from first-time jobs to jobs requiring college degrees and some experience, the online platform offers very real jobs for very real job seekers. In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the unemployment level for teenagers, 16 to 19 years, to be 20.9 percent – among the highest of all major worker groups (March 2014, Not Seasonally Adjusted). By hiring younger workers businesses can benefit from fresh perspectives and new ideas. Younger workers also tend to be open to learning and thrive on coaching and mentoring from others – their ability to embrace change, diversity, and technology can result in cost savings for businesses.
The Virtual Job Fair is simple to access and free of cost for job seekers and employers.
Businesses are encouraged to post their open positions, including simple summer jobs or temporary, permanent, full-time or part-time employment on vjf.careersourcepinellas.com. Only during the LIVE week-long event will job seekers be able to submit their resumes for employers’ job openings, who then can review them at their convenience.
Young adults ages 14 to 24 are invited to register for the job fair on vjf.careersourcepinellas.com. Job seekers needing assistance with creating a resume can visit any of the centers located throughout Hillsborough, Sarasota, Manatee and Pinellas Counties. Resources for resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and career planning are also available on the Virtual Job Fair website.
Organizing partners for the Virtual Job Fair span a four-county radius that includes CareerSource Tampa Bay (Hillsborough), CareerSource Suncoast (Sarasota/Manatee), and CareerSource Pinellas (Pinellas) to better serve the broader youth and business populations.
