Blood donors will also have a chance to win free Outback for a year!
(St. Petersburg, Fla. (April 28, 2014) – This summer Outback Steakhouse® has teamed up with OneBlood to thank blood donors by giving them a free lunch. All you need to do is donate blood or platelets at least two times between May 1 and August 31 to receive a free lunch offer courtesy of Outback Steakhouse.® Donors will also be entered into a drawing to win “Outback for a Year”!
There’s even more reason to donate. All donors will receive a wellness check-up including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and a cholesterol screening each time they give blood, along with a special gift.
Generally, healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. For more information about donating blood, center locations and hours, go to www.oneblood.org or call 1.800.68.BLOOD (1.800.682.5663)
Outback Steakhouse® is partnering with OneBlood in an effort to increase our community’s summer blood supply which typically drops, due to high school and other donors going on vacation. A surprising statistic: 39% of people are eligible to donate blood, but only about 5% give.
“We want to thank people who selflessly give to help others. Blood donors have a life-saving impact on those who receive blood to help them lead healthy, normal lives. This is a small way to say thank you for making such a tremendous difference in our communities,” said John Schaufelberger, Chief Marketing Officer of Outback Steakhouse®.
Every two seconds someone needs a blood transfusion in the United States. Blood donations profoundly affect the lives of patients in our community and in many cases one donation can save up to three patients.
