Annual Event Set for May 19th-20th in St. Petersburg, Florida
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA(April 24, 2014) – The Florida Medical Manufacturers Consortium (FMMC) will hold its annual Florida Medical Device Symposium on May 19-20, 2014, at the Hilton Carillon Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. This symposium continues to be Florida’s premier event for the medical technology industry and again will feature nationally recognized speakers, expert panels on regulatory issues and industry trends, legislative updates, exhibitors and quality networking opportunities. Mark Leahey, President & CEO, Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) will bring everyone up-to-date with a comprehensive update on the legislative and regulatory issues facing the medical industry in Washington, DC. Named one of the medical device industry’s top lobbyists, Leahey has lobbied for many issues relevant to the medical device industry including more reasonable user fees for smaller companies and the opening up of access to the hospital marketplace by smaller companies.
Michael Wiklund, General Manager, Human Factors Engineering, UL-Wiklund R&D, will review the history of HFE-related regulations and standards worldwide. He’ll address issues relevant to today’s marketplace such as bringing products to market in a manner that accelerates rather than slows the process. Mark will hold this one-hour session as a precursor to his post-symposium full-day Human Factors Engineering (HFE) workshop scheduled for May 21.
Mark Andrews, Chief Strategy Officer, GHSP will be holding a session centered on developing and implementing a strategic plan that will drive action and accountability. Attendees of this session will learn how a one-page strategic plan can lead towards an organization working together and becoming a high-performing, goal-oriented team.
