LARGO: The Sun Coast Osteopathic Foundation invites fun lovers of all ages to Saturday in the Park with Mom Family Health Fest in Largo Central Park (101 Central Park Drive, Largo 33771). This free community event celebrating mothers and promoting healthy families will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The event includes live music, children’s activities, entertainment and educational experiences for family members of all ages. Admission to the park is free and food and beverages will be available.
Emphasizing a comprehensive health perspective, the event will feature a Health and Wellness Fair. The theme will extend to demonstrations and exhibits by event sponsors, local non-profit agencies and other community health and service providers. Children are invited to take part in a “Rokkball” demonstration — a fun, high-energy baseball clinic for youth players. Fitness expert Carmen Baxter will lead willing participants in warm up exercises to get them ready to move in rhythm.
For music lovers, the main stage comes alive for hours of non-stop entertainment, featuring Tampa Bay singer and songwriter Jim Lanier (Trop-Rock and Oldies). Families will also delight in off-stage performances by clowns, jugglers and magicians. A special children’s play area will feature inflatable jumpers, a climbing rockwall and miniature train rides through the park.
The Sun Coast Osteopathic Foundation, formerly named Sun Coast Hospital Foundation, is an independent, 501(c)3 public organization with a mission to improve the health and quality of life in Largo and surrounding mid-Pinellas County, Florida. Its emphasis on health education, disease prevention, research, and service is consistent with the organization’s Osteopathic heritage, which took root at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo half a century ago.
The Foundation promotes community health awareness through programs that advance the health and well-being of families and individuals of all ages. We support education through scholarships for Osteopathic medical students with a priority to those being educated here and intending to practice in the mid-Pinellas community, our primary focus. A parallel scholarship program is open to applicants participating in allied health and nursing educational centers.
