April 22, 2014 – A new PBS-TV documentary showcasing green entrepreneurs on Anna Maria Island features AMI Outfitters, anchor of the Historic Green Village retail center, a campus of green-retrofitted historic buildings.
AMI Outfitters represents 150 brands of gear and apparel from the Outdoor Industry’s green leaders, acclaimed over the past 40 years for their multi-faceted commitment to sustainability, from renewable raw materials to low-carbon supply chains to environmental/industrial alliances including “1% For The Planet.”
The outfitter shop’s leading brand, Patagonia, pledges 1% of annual sales to the preservation and restoration of the environment, as the founding member of a global non-profit collective now donating more than $20 million annually to over 3,300 environmental causes (onepercentfortheplanet.org).
AMI Outfitters supports local projects advocating conservation, raising funds and awareness during Patagonia Advocate Weeks, April 26th to May 11th. Every Patagonia footwear purchase at AMI Outfitters during the two-week fundraiser sends a $10 donation to Sarasota Bay Watch.
The PBS program documenting the eco-initiatives at the Anna Maria Historic Green Village premieres April 24th at 9 p.m. on Tampa Bay’s WEDU Channel 3.
