Tampa, Fla. – April 1, 2013 – Ignite! Tampa Bay is a high-energy evening designed to inspire, educate, entertain and spark new ideas and conversations across cultures and disciples of the Tampa Bay Community. The evening’s emcee will be Chris Krimitsos, founder and CEO of the Tampa Bay Business Owners. Through fast-paced, bite-sized presentations community members get on stage and share their personal or professional passion. It’s a great opportunity to meet smart, interesting people (if we do say so ourselves) and maybe even learn something.
Presenters have five minutes and 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. At Ignite! Tampa community members involved in technology, arts, communications, education, non-profit, the government sector and more will take the stage to answer this challenge.
The first round of speakers for this year’s Ignite! Tampa event have been selected. This year’s event will include: Saxon Baum on why The Tech World Needs Bros, Jessica Bellman on Figuring It Our Backwards, Mark Lombardi-Nelson discussing The Challenge Accepted, and Nathan Schwagler with On Gratitude and his love for Tampa Bay. Katie Douglas will talk about The Importance of Youth Education and Engagement in Civics, Aubrey Goodman on Active Vulnerability, and Ned Averill-Snell with Get Small: The Big Rewards of Indie Film, Theatre, Music and Books. Catherin Gregory with Be the Voice…For a Child, and Jonathan Cordeau with How NO Empowers.
“Ignite is about creating an atmosphere that allows everyone the opportunity to be a rock star for five minutes on stage and share their passion. We are honored to have such outstanding presenters selected in our first round for our fourth Ignite! This is a testament to the quality and variety of talent in the Tampa Bay community. It is also a fun and inexpensive evening out and a chance to meet others in the community who are talented and passionate about sharing the exciting things happening in our area,” says Joy Randels, one of the organizers for the event.
The fourth annual event will be held on May 22nd at in the Theater of the Historic Cuba Club in Ybor City. Join the Tampa Bay Community fun and enlightening evening complete with drinks including local craft beer and snacks. The presentations are meant to “ignite” the audience on a subject, that is, to stimulate thought and action on the topics presented. The first Ignite! took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon.
