SAINT LEO, Florida — Saint Leo University launched its new Communication-Marketing-Multimedia Industry Advisory Council this week and held its first meeting Tuesday, April 15 at the Donald R. Tapia School of Business. Summer Martin, marketing and events coordinator for the Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc., was elected as the Council Chairperson.
The mission of the C-M-M Advisory Council is to serve as an advisory body, working collaboratively with the instructional faculty and students by providing ideas and opinions on matters concerning the industry, and to help advance the department’s strategic plan.
“Talent is always number one on a company’s wish list when choosing a location for its business,” said Martin. “This is a great opportunity for industry professionals to weigh in on the skills they would like to see future graduates have as it relates to their business and the field of marketing, communication and multimedia. Working together we can help develop the talent that companies are looking for.”
Martin joined the Pasco Economic Development Council, Inc. in 2012 as its marketing and events coordinator and has since helped the organization to win four awards recognizing its marketing efforts. Martin is responsible for marketing, event organizing, and publicity for the countywide non-profit organization. She currently serves on the Tampa Bay Partnership’s Regional Marketing Council, and in 2012, she participated as a member of the Communications Action Group for the Tampa Bay Host Committee.
“We have been long-time supporters of the Pasco Economic Development Council and are thrilled to have Summer Martin participating in our Industry Advisory Council,” said Dr. Michael Nastanski, dean of the Donald R. Tapia School of Business at Saint Leo University. “Saint Leo University is preparing students for future jobs, and we want to stay on the cutting edge. We look forward to working with industry professionals to develop the Tampa Bay region’s talent.”
