The 7th Annual Memorial Weekend SUNDAY FREE CONCERT AFLOAT will be held on SUNDAY, May 25th, 2014 with live bands performing from 1:00 P.M. until about 4:30 P.M., weather and tides permitting. This is a unique event that has been held at the sandbar in “P” Channel for many years. It is a family-style event, with kids and dogs welcome. In the entire history of the event, there has never been an altercation, or incident of any kind. Friends and neighbors all cooperate to make this a safe, fun outing to mark the beginning of the summer boating and water recreation season.
As always, this is a FREE CONCERT. The only practical way to get to the concert is by boat, canoe, kayak, or other floating water conveyance. (Some come on stand-up paddle boards) This event is NOT a Weedon Island event. There is NO ACCESS by, through, or around the Weedon Island Preserve.
Hal Hammer, Jr. and The Cross Creek Blues Band are, once again, the headliners. New to the Cross Creek Blues Band this year is spectacular guitarist, Frank King. Expect lots of hot guitar work in what promises to be an energetic show by these guys! Also, Jeff Williams, of Blue Earth Arts is once again expected to be the guest keyboardist for the band.
Chris Hiatt and his band, Cold Shot, join the event for the first time. Chris has just returned from another sold-out Scandinavian tour and is scheduled as a headliner for the Laughlin/Las Vegas Blues Festival. His SRV Tribute will make your hair stand up!
ADDITIONAL SPECIAL GUEST PERFORMERS INCLUDE:
The Fabulous Ken Keller – Outstanding vocalist and guitarist (Think Cheap Trick / Marshal Tucker)
“Sweet Pea” Jones – Formerly of “Jump Street Band”, Miz Pea, as she is known to her fans, plays a mean 5-string bass while belting out high-energy vocal selections.
