(SARASOTA, Fla., April 10, 2014) Intrusion Protection Technologies is sponsoring the Florida Gulf Coast BRACE for the Storm Workshop on April 24, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
This free Web-based workshop is an opportunity for home and business owners to gain a stronger understanding of how to undertake one or more mitigation projects on their homes to strengthen them against Florida’s next hurricane. The importance of preparing homes against damage that can be caused by a flood, wildfire and other disasters will also be introduced.
The workshop is a self-paced program that takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. The information presented can be read on-screen or participants can click a podcast option and listen to each segment. Video presentations support and expand the information, and links to additional resources are provided.
A wind-insurance calculator allows participants to determine how much they could save on the windstorm portion of their homeowner’s insurance for each wind-mitigating improvement they could make to their home.
Registration for this BRACE for the Storm workshop is available at www.BeReadyFlorida.org.
“For six months each year, the threat from hurricanes is a fact of life for all who own a home or business on Florida’s Gulf Coast,” said Jack Kelly, president of Intrusion Protection Technologies (www.intrusionpt.com), a local company that offers hurricane and security protection screen products.
“It’s important for homeowners to make their home safer by understanding what they can do to mitigate storm damage,” Kelly said. “Participants can obtain the important information presented in this workshop in the comfort of their home or they can gather with others to participate as part of a group.”
