Once again inspiring and educating the community, this year’s Child Abuse Awareness Luncheon will feature Keynote Speaker Professor Paolo Annino. The riveting event, hosted by Friends of Joshua House Foundation, will take place from 11:50 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Tampa Hilton Downtown, 211 North Tampa Street Tampa, FL 33602.
The 2014 Child Abuse Awareness Luncheon focuses on the theme “One Child at a Time, One Issue at a Time” tackling some of the many issues impacting the children of our community. The dynamic Keynote Speakers include Florida State University College of Law Clinical Professor Paolo Annino a national leader in helping children in the foster care, juvenile justice, and health care systems. Most recently, Professor Annino represented The Young Invincibles in the United States Supreme Court as Amicus Curiae in support of the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act; Annino will present at the luncheon the plight of medically fragile dependent children being placed in nursing homes instead of foster homes. Also presenting will be Detective James McBride, the Director of the Clearwater/Tampa Bay Area Task Force on Human Trafficking, who will update the attendees on how the Tampa Bay Area is continuing to combat the growing epidemic of child sex trafficking,
The luncheon benefits Joshua House, one of the Children’s Home Society of Florida’s premier residential programs for children who have been abused, abandoned and neglected, offering a therapeutic residential group care program that provides a protected, nurturing, family-like environment for children six – seventeen. These children have been removed from their homes due to crisis and many have been through multiple foster homes. The caring and dedicated staff and volunteers at Joshua House provide homelike environments, love, nurturing and stability for every child in their care.
Tickets are for the luncheon $50 per person, with table sponsorships beginning at $600.00. For further information on tickets or Corporate Sponsorship, please contact DeDe Grundel at
