Tampa, Fla. – April 2, 2014 – The Construction Law Institute of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law (RPPTL) Section of The Florida Bar recently honored Carlton Fields Jorden Burt Shareholder Wm. Cary Wright for his longtime commitment to professionalism, ethics and dedication to mentoring and volunteerism in the field of construction law.
Wright received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Construction Law Institute at its 7th Annual Construction Law Institute conference held March 20-22, 2014 at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.
Wright is the second lawyer at the firm to receive this award. Tampa Shareholder George Meyer received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
Currently, Wright is serving as chair of the RPPTL Section’s Insurance and Surety Committee. He also serves in various roles of the following associations and organizations and their committees and boards: American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry, Associated General Contractors of Greater Florida, Inc., and Construction Financial Management Association.
A member of the firm’s Construction practice group, Wright is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar. He has extensive experience representing clients in construction disputes, including: construction claims, defective products, mold, water intrusion and other sick-building syndrome issues; construction liens; insurance coverage matters; risk management; bond claims; and other contract disputes. Such engagements have involved bridges, convention centers, high-rise condominiums, highways, hospitals, and hotels.
He also has substantial experience in contract drafting and contract review including the preparation of owner-contractor agreements and contractor-subcontractor agreements.
