Adventure Outfitters purchased by Blevins family expands gear, servicing and classes
TAMPA, Fla. (March 20, 2013) — Adventure Outfitters, South Tampa full-service dive shop expands into a new location and new ownership, holding grand opening on Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. exposing new gear, servicing options and classes for the public.
Adventure Outfitters was previously owned by Leon Watts, who has been in the dive business for 20 years divemastering, teaching, working in dive shops, and writing about it. He’s written for Scuba Diving Magazine and in 1999 he wrote Shipwrecks of Florida’s West Coast.
“I decided to expand my international trekking and private scuba courses and take my focus off the retail,” Watts said. “I respect Anna Blevins and her approach to teaching and her family’s close connection. I think they will be just the thing to take the store on into the future and re-invigorate it. Make it better. It’s tough to leave it but I will still operate my adventure guiding and private scuba courses through www.wattsadventures.com.”
The Blevins family including Anna Blevins, her husband Robert Blevins who is currently in Afghanistan and her two sons Robbie and Alex will take over the business at the new location starting April 5.
“I am excited about the move,” said Mrs. Blevins. “By turning the shop into more than a retail store and offering industry speakers, a full array of classes and a full line of equipment and servicing that you don’t find at most stores, I think it could create a place where divers can hang out and share the experiences that got me interested in diving. It’s such a beautiful perspective of the world.”
The opening will include free food and drinks as well as raffle prizes with proceeds going to PADI foundation Project AWARE which focuses on a diver movement for marine awareness.
