Media is cordially invited to attend and cover these two spectacular events which come together as Pony Party Weekend to celebrate 50 years of the Mustang, and 40 years of the Children’s Cancer Center.
According to Steve Ling, Large Car Marketing Manager Ford Motor Company, “We are so proud of what Bill Currie Ford is doing this weekend. Tying the Celebration of Mustang 50 Years in with the Children’s Cancer Center demonstrates the strength of the Mustang Family.”
As benefiting charity, the Children’s Cancer Center is expected to receive tens of thousands of dollars from both the Friday throwback dance party and the Saturday ‘Drive 4 Ur Community’ event and Mustang Show. Says Steve Manuel, Director of Development for the Children’s Cancer Center, “We are excited about the growing partnership between the Children’s Cancer Center and Bill Currie Ford. Equally, we’ve been blessed to be joined by several other highly respected organizations for this event. The Pony Party Weekend is anticipated to raise a substantial amount of financial support which allows the center to provide its programs to Tampa Bay Children and Families battling childhood cancer.” Amongst those organizations are TPepin’s Hospitality Centre, Tijuana Flats and their charitable arm, the Just In Queso foundation, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and several more.
Christy Vannette, Community Relations Director of Bill Currie Ford is excited about the role the dealership is playing as they lead the herd in nationwide Mustang celebrations. “The Bill Currie Ford team is not only thrilled but truly humbled by this opportunity to support the mission of the Children’s Cancer Center. Helping these children and families alongside our generous community partners has been an incredible experience. As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang during the Pony Party Weekend Event, we are also celebrating the strength and resilience of these families, these kids and the giving spirit of the Tampa Community.”
One of the community partners helping make the weekend a huge event is Tijuana Flats and the Just In Queso foundation. Says Ben Kuykendall, Development Manager for Just in Queso Foundation, “The Just in Queso Foundation’s mission is to improve the communities where Tijuana Flats employees live and work. Pony Party Weekend is improving this community by helping support local kids and their families and we are proud to be a part of that.”

About the Children’s Cancer Center
While other organizations are committed to finding a cure tomorrow, the Children’s Cancer Center is committed to helping families cope today. Founded in 1974, the mission of the Children’s Cancer Center’s revolves around the understanding that a child’s diagnosis becomes the entire family’s diagnosis. Support is therefore offered to all members of the family throughout this difficult journey – from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Programs fall into one of three main areas of support: emotional, educational or financial. Here, kids and families are offered hope and can learn to cope together, as a strong family unit. To learn more about the Children’s Cancer Center, its mission, or how you may become part of this important support for Tampa Bay families devastated by Cancer or Chronic Blood Disorders, please visit us at www.childrenscancercenter.org or call Danielle Lanier, Director of Programs and Family Services, at 813-367-5437 ext.6.
