LAKELAND, FL (March 25, 2014) – The Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) search for a new Executive Director has been narrowed to three candidates. Past Executive Director Anne Furr retired in October 2012 and LDDA Coordinator Becky Abel has resigned, effective April 18th, 2014. The candidates are listed alphabetically as follows:
· CeCe Christian – Currently Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine Director of Special Events; Pig Fest Coordinator. BA in Business Administration.
· Monica Drake – Currently Ponce Inlet Historical Museum Coordinator. Recently purchased a home in Lakeland; commutes. BA in Art History; MA in Public History and Museum Studies.
· Julie Townsend – Currently Targeted Marketing Specialist, Mid-Florida Federal Credit Union. BA in Philosophy.
The candidates are scheduled to attend a Community Forum “Meet & Greet” in Lakeland to participate in the second phase of the hiring process. The “Meet & Greet” will take place on Tuesday, April 1st at the Lakeland Public Library, Main Branch Community Room from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (100 Lake Morton Drive) where members of the community can meet each candidate.
Candidate resumes will be available at the event. In addition, a Contact Sheet will be available at the door for interested individuals to take with them, and submit any comments to the LDDA Selection Committee via phone or email. It should be noted that all comments must be submitted by end of business on April 2nd, in order to be considered. The Search Committee plans to make a final recommendation to the full LDDA Board on April 3, 2014.
