Tampa, FL (March 12, 2014) – On Thursday, March 27, The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA will honor Hillsborough County CommissionerKen Hagan with the 2014 Community Impact Award. The Tampa YMCA recognizes and thanks Commissioner Hagan for his dedication and positive impact on Hillsborough County residents. Addressing an audience of more than 400 YMCA supporters, volunteers and friends at Pepin’s Hospitality Centre, Commissioner Hagan will speak about the profound impact his leadership and the YMCA have made on the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and families in the community. Previous recipients of the Community Impact Award include Former Florida CFO Alex Sink, Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman, former Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and Hillsborough County Superintendent MaryEllen Elia.
The Regions Community Impact Dinner, emceed by WFLA-TV News Channel 8 Anchor Rod Carter, is an annual event that brings awareness to the Tampa Y’s efforts to help kids and families, promote the health and well-being of the Tampa Bay community and help give back to our neighbors in need.
Starting at 6pm, guests will enjoy dinner, an awards presentation and videos showcasing the YMCA’s real impact on community members. During the event, former Tampa Y Governance Board Chair D. Scott Luttrell will also receive the Red Triangle Award, given to volunteers whose leadership, dedicated service and devotion to the mission have made significant and lasting impacts on the Tampa Y. In addition, 14 Branch Volunteers of the Year will be recognized.
Special dignitaries will be in attendance, including Hillsborough County Commission and School District guests and other elected officials from Hillsborough and East Pasco counties. A gift of $2,500 or more to the Tampa Y entitles donors to host a table of eight.
