SARASOTA, Fla. (March 11, 2014) Bob Carter Companies LLC has added a new Vice President and Co-Owner, Lela Diaz. Diaz will be responsible for strategic development of the company’s International Clients practice and overall Client Services. The company has consultants based internationally and in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States, with clients in the United States, Mexico and the Middle East.

Diaz, who is based in Chicago, Ill., has worked as Senior Associate Director of Philanthropy for the Nature Conservancy and as Managing Director of Strategic Gifts at Feeding America. In both roles, she helped raise significant gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations while managing teams of fundraisers.
She has served as strategic council to nonprofit organizations across the world, including the US Mexico Foundation, Stevenson School, Big Sur Land Trust, Knoxville Museum of Art, and Direct Relief. Her fundraising experience includes strategic philanthropy focused on major and mega gifts, prospect and market study research, planned giving, governance audits and benchmarking studies, as well as partnership with volunteers, staff and donors to accomplish mission-critical fundraising objectives.

Diaz developed a solid knowledge of nonprofit organizations through her hands-on work as a program officer intern for The Chicago Community Trust and through her assignment with AmeriCorps at the American Red Cross.
Diaz, who is Spanish capable, graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree and then earned a Master’s Certificate from Loyola of Chicago in Advanced Study of Philanthropy. She grew up in southern California and has lived in Costa Rica and London, England.
