Event on April 9 at Maestro’s at The Straz Center in Tampa
TAMPA, Fla. (March 4, 2014) — Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be the featured guest speaker at the Early Childhood Council (ECC) of Hillsborough County’s Spring Luncheon on April 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maestro’s at The Straz Center in Tampa.
Bay News 9 Meteorologist Josh Linker will emcee the fundraising event, which is open to the public. Net proceeds will benefit the ECC, which provides developmental screening, inclusion and advocacy services to promote positive development for young children in Tampa Bay.
The luncheon will celebrate the strength and resiliency of young children. Mayor Buckhorn will share his personal perspective and experiences regarding the triumphs and tribulations of raising two daughters in the 21st century.
The ECC provides information/referral services, prevention and early intervention, as well as training and advocacy to the community. A key program is the Community Developmental Screening Program, held monthly to screen children under the age of 5 for developmental issues, such as speech and language, vision, hearing, motor skills and cognition problems or delays.
“We are extremely grateful to all of our supporters – organizations and individuals alike – who have helped to grow the ECC and improve our ability to better serve children and families in Hillsborough County,” said ECC Executive Director Stephen Martaus. “We consider our ECC Spring Luncheon as a renewal of the important work the agency has been doing for over 30 years.”
Registration is $40 for individuals or $400 for a table of 10. For more information about the ECC Spring Luncheon and/or to buy tickets, please visit www.ecctampabay.org or call (813) 837-7753.
