SARASOTA, Fla. (March 6, 2014) – The Baltimore Orioles, Orioles Kids Magazine and Visit Sarasota County teamed up to provide a trip to Sarasota, Fla. for one lucky child to see the Orioles play a spring season game. The contest asked children to submit a one-page statement on why they should be selected. This year’s winner from Herndon, Va., Christopher Bergeron III, age 9, wrote “14 reasons I want to go to the Orioles Spring training.”
“Bergeron did his homework,” said Erin Duggan, director of brand for VSC. “He wrote about Orioles players, Sarasota County’s weather and even tied it into spending time with his father. We hope he enjoys his once-in-a-lifetime trip to Sarasota to see his favorite team play.”
Bergeron will receive tickets to see a spring training game, round-trip airfare for himself and his father, and three nights’ accommodations for two at the Courtyard Marriott Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
The contest generated more than 30 entries submitted by children from age 3 to 13 and further promotes the strong VSC and Baltimore Orioles partnership which results in raising awareness of Sarasota County as a must experience destination on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
