“We are grateful that our local elected officials are lending their influence and voices to help increase public awareness and encourage action to end senior hunger,” says Maribeth Phillips, CEO of Meals on Wheels PLUS. “They are in a unique position to assist Meals on Meals PLUS of Manatee in addressing the serious problem of senior hunger in our community.”
The national “March for Meals” campaign is sponsored by the Meals On Wheels Association of America. The campaign takes place in the month of March because it was during this month that the law was enacted that included senior meal programs in the Older Americans Act.
