Joe Finney brings high-level experience in pest control and other service industries
SARASOTA, Fla. (March 5, 2014) – Arrow Environmental Services, one of the fastest-growing pest control companies in the country, has merged with the top provider in the Jacksonville market, while bringing in industry veteran Joe Finney as Chief Executive Officer to direct its continued growth.
Arrow closed a deal in early February to merge with Bug Out Service, a leading pest control company in northeast Florida with approximately $15 million in annual revenues. Bug Out will keep its name in the market, while pursuing a growth strategy that leverages the strength of the brand.
Meanwhile, industry veteran Finney joined Arrow in early February as its new CEO. Finney, who has been a member of the Arrow Environmental Services board of directors since 2010, held positions as Regional Vice President and European Managing Director for Terminix earlier in his career, along with senior roles with TruGreen Lawn and Land Care, ServiceMaster, and Michelin North America.
Most recently, Finney, 49, was President of Sears Automotive Group, in charge of the company’s 800 auto repair shops, which had 14,000 employees and $1.6 billion in annual revenues.
With Finney’s move back to the pest control industry as Arrow’s new CEO, Bill Hurd moves into the role of Chief Operating Officer and President, working with Finney and Arrow Chairman George Pickhardt to manage the company going forward. The company’s goal is to expand both through acquisition and organic growth, while keeping industry-leading standards for personal service and customer retention.
“We are extremely fortunate to attract an executive of Joe Finney’s caliber,” said Arrow’s Pickhardt. “As we work towards becoming one of the national leaders in our industry, we need to continue to enhance the quality of our operations and our people, and Joe will drive these efforts going forward.”
Finney’s extensive pest control experience comes into play in his new role as Arrow CEO, as does experience he gained during a year-long stint in 2004 with Jordan Co., a private equity firm that was focused on acquiring pest control companies while not sacrificing quality.
“At Arrow, the company has proven to be highly selective in finding partners to grow long-term with us,” Finney said. “We are creating a nimble, high-growth company, matching a strong acquisition strategy with organic sales growth. The combination of the two is proving to be very powerful for us.”
Since August 2010, Arrow has merged with 36 companies in Florida and Georgia. The company now has over $36 million in annual revenues, and is expected to move into the group of the 20 largest U.S. pest control companies, based on annual rankings by PCT magazine.
The merger with Bug Out Service is Arrow’s largest to date, establishing the company as the preeminent pest control provider in the Jacksonville market.
“We were attracted to Arrow by the quality of their organization and by their interest in being a true partner with us,” said Bug Out’s Paul Felker. “As a longtime family business, we want to ensure that the commitment to quality stays in place and with Arrow, we have confidence that will be the case.”
Likewise, Arrow was attracted to Bug Out for its quality of operations and service.
“We are flattered to have the opportunity to partner with Bug Out,” said Arrow’s Pickhardt. “Bug Out has one of the premier brands in the country and has been the industry leader in northeast Florida for decades. We share a deep, genuine commitment to people and service, so the fit couldn’t be better.”
