|February 27, 2014 – Bradenton, Florida – Meals on Wheels PLUS will honor over 200 of its volunteers on March 18, 2014 to recognize and celebrate ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
In 2013, Meals on Wheels PLUS determined that volunteers provided the organization $638,484 worth of services, mainly delivering meals and sorting food at the Food Bank of Manatee, said Haskell Gates, the organization’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “That’s an enormous value that we would not be able to provide if we had to have paid staff do those jobs,” Gates said.
Held in the Turner Ballroom at Renaissance on 9th, guests will enjoy a delicious hot meal prepared by Executive Chefs David Meador and Joe Stoddard and served by the staff of Meals on Wheels PLUS. Each volunteer will receive special tokens of Thanks for all of their time and efforts. Maribeth Phillips, CEO, says of the event, “Our volunteers are what keep us going. They are a giving and delightful group of people, and it is genuinely an honor to serve them.”
